Study Sex College Tour

Students swarm college campuses across the nation all year. Rigorous courses will give them a chance to learn about any subject their hearts desire, but will their coursework cover sexuality? Megan Andelloux, a.k.a. “Oh Megan,” a certified sexologist and educator, has created The Study Sex College Tour to broach this topic. Andelloux travels the country providing workshops that show human sexuality can be taught in a fun and informative manner. “The way sexuality is often discussed, especially with young adults, is based on shame and fear. Sexual health and pleasure should not be divorced; to be effective and comprehensive, we must teach both."

“The Study Sex College Tour” (SSCT ) was developed out of a need to cultivate future sexuality educators, allow college students to feel like they could explore sexual issues in a fun, educational and respectful way, and promote successful event planning. There are a wide range of topics that college organizations can choose from, all of which focus on creating a safe environment for students to learn more about safer sex practices, consent, reproductive justice, sexual pleasure, and sexual politics.

This tour was designed to further this idea and show that people (who choose to) be sexual can do so in ways that best fit their comfort levels and lifestyle.” Created last year, the Study Sex College Tour launched with a select group of companies that promoted sexual wellness and ethics. Andelloux visited 37 campuses, including Duke, Chicago IIT, Brown University, UMass, and Wesleyan, providing over 74 hours of sexuality education across America. This year, the tour has expanded its partnerships, but still includes repeat manufacturers such as Spareparts, Je Joue, Empowered Products, and Oh Mi Bod. Some of the new companies are Aneros, Sliquid, Fun Factory, Crystal Delights, Sportsheets, Kink Academy, and Sir Richard’s.

After years of hearing anti-sex individuals scoff at the idea of adult sex education being important, Oh Megan (Megan Andelloux, ACS, AASECT) founded The Study Sex College Tour in 2010 to show sexuality discussions do not have to be fraught with fear or hazards to hold a valued, healthy place in our society.

The Study Sex College Tour launched again the Fall of 2011 with Premier Companies that Promote Sexual Health and Pleasure! Crystal Delights is pleased to be among the companies that partnered to sponsor the 2011 and 2012 SSCT touring schedule.

Student groups that bring Andelloux to speak on their campus are entered into a competition where they are graded on their communication, program development, marketing and reach. At the end of each semester, the group with the highest overall score receives a basket filled with SSCT featured products. “I’m very excited to have such great companies supporting a way to promote safer sex and sex-positivity to the younger generations. It’s a win-win for everyone!

Brand recognition, safer sex information, and most of all, a demonstration that open discussions of sexuality can be done!” The tour officially launched September 15th, 2011 and carries on through May 2012 (see dates below). Various colleges have already signed up for Andelloux’s unique presentations that bring medically accurate and sex-positive education, brand awareness, and information on company ethics to young adults.
